Brainspotting is a psychotherapy approach that was developed by Dr. David Grand. It is designed to help individuals process and heal from emotional trauma, psychological issues, and unresolved experiences by using the connection between eye position and brain processing.
The core concept behind Brainspotting is that where a person looks can reveal areas of the brain that are storing traumatic memories or unresolved emotions. The therapist works with the client to identify "brainspots"—specific points in the visual field where the eyes naturally focus—while the client processes difficult feelings or memories.
During session, I will help you focus on a particular thought, feeling, or memory that may be linked to emotional or physical distress. While holding the eye position, clients are encourage to notice bodily sensations, emotions, or thoughts that come up. This allows the brain and body to reprocess the traumatic memory or emotion in a more adaptive way, helping to release the associated distress.
